COULD East Yorkshire be becoming a UFO hotspot?
Only a few months after a sighting near Pocklington, another bizarre encounter has been reported just a short distance away.
Arny Pearson, of Barmby Moor, was driving back home after a day out in Whitby, with his wife in the passenger seat, when he had an experience which bore all the hallmarks of a UFO 'close encounter'.
The Evening Press reported in March that Amanda Gibs and her family spotted strange lights in the sky over the A1070 near Barmby Moor.
Mr Pearson's encounter happened at about 10.30pm last Friday. He had just left the A166 Bridlington Road and was driving towards Pocklington along a lengthy straight.
"A car was coming towards us with its headlights on," said Mr Pearson. "I switched my car's headlights to dipped. It was about half a mile away but it wasn't getting any nearer.
"The headlamps were very close together and just as we got nearer a third headlamp appeared above what we thought was the car.
"I thought it was a motorbike that was coming up behind the car. I slowed down and all of a sudden all three lights veered off to the right and disappeared.
"We passed where it had disappeared and there was no gap in the hedge, there was nothing there at all. It was so weird."
Mr Pearson added that both he and his wife went cold at the sight.
"I've never experienced anything like that before. But, like most people, I've got an open mind about these things."
