EMPLOYERS in North Yorkshire are offering hundreds of jobs for the region's school and college leavers through Modern Apprenticeships.
More than 200 jobs have been offered for anyone under 24 who wants to join the scheme and work and qualify at the same time.
This year the largest number of vacancies are in animal care, engineering, catering and hotels, construction, hairdressing, lifeguarding and leisure.
Paul Grierson of North Yorkshire Training and Enterprise Council(TEC) which finances Modern Apprenticeships explained: "Anyone getting results this summer should find out about Modern Apprenticeships. You can start working now, and earn while you qualify. Give it a try. The sky is the limit as to how far you can progress. You will have a qualification for life that will open numerous doors - from boosting your earnings to university entry qualification.
"You can progress into management if that appeals - the choice is yours once you have qualified."
The TEC is also keen to talk to employers who have young people under 25 working for them, but may not be able to afford formal training.
Provided they have not reached graduate level, they are eligible to train with their employer with the TEC's support on NVQ Options and Modern Apprenticeships.
