YOU would be forgiven for thinking it was the bleak midwinter.
But this remarkable photograph was taken THIS weekend between Hutton-le-Hole and Lastingham, in the North York Moors.
What appears to be thick hail lines the side of the roads after storms lashed parts of North Yorkshire yesterday (Sun).
Kirkbymoorside firefighters were called in to Lastingham itself to deal with flash floods that hit the village.
Yet in and around York and East Yorkshire, sunseekers were blessed with warm sunshine and only a few light showers.
However, a spokeswoman for the PA Weather Centre said she was not surprised that hail had hit the region, saying that with heavy, thundery showers, hail can arrive at any time of year.
