I WAS saddened to read the announcement in the Evening Press last night of the death of Dr Henry Chisholm.
He was a lovely, kind doctor who kept our family in good health for nearly 40 years when he practised in Holgate with his partner Dr Wiseman. I remember from the Fifties his cheerful manner on his visits to our home in his Rover, or in his surgery.
Being a Scotsman, meeting him was just like a scene from Dr Finlay's Casebook, except this was a real person doing good work in the community. He was of the old school of doctors with perfect bedside manner. In those days when the doctor visited my mother would clean the house from top to bottom.
He would lift your spirits with his smile and inspire absolute confidence. He was one of the best.
