CAUGHT at last! Carlos the wandering wallaby's days of freedom are finally over.
He was lured by a trail of red peanuts into an RSPCA cage last night after fourteen days on the run.
He had been spotted hopping around in the Kingsclere area of Huntington, so the dog trap was installed in a garden to see if Carlos would hop inside.
Yesterday evening, neighbour Lisa Gray spotted the wallaby in the garden, gradually getting nearer to the cage.
"He went up to the cage, put his head inside and then walked further in. Then the end of the cage fell into place," she said.
Carlos's owner Paul Calvert, of Vyner Cottage, Strensall Road, Huntington, was delighted to have the animal back. Paul said today: "I'm so glad we've finally found him. It's been pretty stressful over the last few weeks."
Carlos will now go to a new home where he cannot escape so easily. Andrew Mercer, 27, of Badger Hill, collected him last night and is keeping him in a secure compound at a secret location in Wigginton.
"I finally got some sleep last night and I know Carlos has gone to a good home," said Paul.
