ENGLAND international calls on Yorkshire players have had a knock-on effect on some Yorkshire ECB County Premier League clubs, writes Peter Vine.
Yorkshire quartet Darren Gough, Michael Vaughan, Craig White and Matthew Hoggard have been part of the England set-up this week for the Headingley Test, prompting Yorkshire to call up several club players for county action.
Players stepping up into the Yorkshire side this week include Harrogate's Vic Craven, Yorkshire Academy's Chris Elstub, Greg Lambert from Castleford, Doncaster wicket keeper/batsman Simon Guy and opener Simon Widdup, who has been forced to give up the captaincy at Doncaster because of Yorkshire calls.
Scarborough will be hoping to reap the benefits of the absence of Widdup and Guy from the Doncaster side that Boro faces at Town Fields tomorrow.
Scarborough have their own absentee to worry about as opening bowler Mark Wells may not be available because of work commitments.
Harrogate do not have a league game tomorrow, although Craven will be missing from their side on Sunday at Yorkshire Academy, who will be without Elstub on Sunday.
York, who hope that Appleby-Frodingham will become their eighth victim in a row at Clifton Park tomorrow have been free from such worries lately as players fight to maintain their place at first team level.
However, strokemaker Simon Mason is being looked at for Yorkshire Colts duty and fellow batsman Steve Piercy has been in demand captaining the Yorkshire's U16s side.
In-form York were hoping to play Collegiate on Sunday in the Yorkshire League KO Cup, but, because of Collegiate's game at Abbeydale Park against Ormskirk in the semi-final if the NCA National Club Knockout competition (1pm), Collegiate are not expected to be at Clifton Park until September 3.
The Black Sheep Champion of Champions Trophy semi-final sees Doncaster Town travelling to Hanging Heaton on Sunday for a 50-overs-a-side tie that starts at 1pm.
