A UNIQUE display which aims to give scientific proof of auras seen by psychics and mystics could be coming to York.
Star gazer Jonathan Cainer and paranormalist Uri Geller have made an application to City of York Council to expand Mr Cainer's Horoscopes shop, in Stonegate, to include a museum of the supernatural.
Among exhibitions planned is a display of Kirlean Photography, a system which, it is claimed, shows the body's auras in different colours.
Mr Cainer, who lives near Easingwold and is one of Britain's top astrologers, said: "It is a system which allows us to see auras. It shows in light form various energy sources within the body that mystics talk about.
"These are things that mystics and psychics have known about for hundreds of years, but which are often ignored because of a lack of scientific proof. We are trying to create this proof in York."
The planning application is in a very early stage at the moment, but Mr Cainer said he had been working hard with Mr Geller to develop the museum.
He said it was hoped to be a very hands-on attraction, in which people could test their own supernatural powers.
He said: "I really do want to bring to York what would be a world first. There will be nothing quite like it anywhere else in the world and I am sure it would draw an awful lot of interest.
"Even I would not predict how long it will take. Some things are beyond anybody, including the deliberations of a local authority, but we are hoping to have at least part of it ready by next year."
City of York Council have yet to set a date for the application to be discussed.
