A WOMAN jogger was knocked to the ground by a mystery attacker on a country road in East Yorkshire.
The 30-year-old was jogging along Londesborough Road, towards the village of Shiptonthorpe, at around 9.30am on Tuesday when she was approached from behind by a man who jogged up to her and forced her to the ground.
A spokesperson for East Yorkshire Police said: "The woman struggled wildly and broke free from her attacker who then escaped through fields towards Londesborough village."
His victim was left physically unhurt but very distressed by the incident, said the spokesperson.
According to police the road would have been full of traffic using the road to avoid road works on the A1079.
The man is described as 5ft 10in to 6ft tall, pale and heavy with short dark hair, a round face, dark eyebrows and dark eyes. He was naked from the waist up and was wearing dark coloured jeans or trousers but had a light coloured T-shirt around his waist.
He didn't have the appearance of a jogger although he jogged up behind the woman.
A passer by was flagged down by the victim and although he attempted to follow the assailant he managed to escape across nearby fields.
Anyone who may have witnessed the attack or might know who the attacker is or have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area prior to the attack should contact police on 01482 597900. Motorists who were using the road around the time of the attack should also contact the police.
