PLANS for a 70-acre holiday village alongside Lightwater Valley theme park, near Ripon, have been put on hold because councillors are worried about extra traffic.
When Harrogate Borough Council's Ripon area planning committee met, members were recommended to approve the scheme for 204 caravans, 136 lodges, an extended "pub in the wood" scheme with a shelter for wet weather and a reception complex.
But fears surfaced about traffic attracted to the site at North Stainley and its impact on the clock tower junction in Palace Road, Ripon.
Councillors voted to defer a decision until they were provided with a synopsis of traffic movements. They also wanted specific information about the effect on the clock tower junction, and additional vehicles on the Ripon-Masham road via the theme park.
Planning officer Dennis Harling said a North Yorkshire County Council highways representative would be invited to the meeting reconsidering the application, which is likely to be on October
