POLICE are hunting witnesses to a head-on collision which left three people seriously ill in hospital.The crash, on the A61 Harrogate to Ripon road, left the injured needing to be cut from the vehicles.
Police said a Citroen Xsara, which was heading towards Ripon, was in collision with a Ford Sierra Estate, heading in the other direction.
That car then collided head-on with a Ford Maverick that had been following it.
The injured are the driver of the Citroen, who is from Teesside, and two people from the Maverick, who are from Harrogate.
The occupants of the Sierra, from Bedale, escaped without serious injury.
The hurt were taken to Harrogate District Hospital, where they are in a serious but stable condition in the high dependency unit.
The accident happened at about 3.15pm yesterday (TUESDAY).
