Around The Wicket by Vernon Coleman, Publishing House, £9.95
BOOKS on cricket are commonplace these days, but they tend to focus on players, teams, umpires and even commentators.
Vernon Coleman, who has written nearly 100 books, has decided to do something different by writing a fictional diary of a local cricket team.
Little Lampton are the worst cricket team in the league and Coleman follows their latest season. This season is just like any other and they finish bottom of the league.
The concept of the book is excellent but unfortunately the content is poor. The book follows the fortunes of the team, both on and off the field, but it never really gets going.
