WITH much publicity, most of the leading banks (apart from greedy Barclays) have decided to waive the ATM charges for services.
However, when using an ATM in Walmgate today - an Alliance & Leicester one - I was greeted by the information on screen that I would have to pay £1 terminal charge.
It would seem that with much less publicity, a new charge is being sneaked in. I think it is high time that this latest idea was made public and that bank clients know what it's all about. I certainly had never heard of terminal charges.
To be fair, the information was shown on screen and it wasn't a fait accompli as has so often been the case in the past.
But I still consider it to be a long way short of the banks' claims of 'openness'.
