Carlos the wayward wallaby is still on the loose - after escaping from the clutches of his owner for a second time.

The wallaby, pet of Paul Calvert, who bought the animal last week as a com-panion for his other wallaby, Max, was named Carlos after Carlos the Jackal. He made his first bid for freedom on Saturday.

Since then, a posse of willing volunteers has been scouring the gardens of Hunt-ington in an effort to catch Carlos on the hop and today succeeded...for a few seconds.

A breathless Paul, of Strensall Road, Huntington, told the Evening Press what had happened over his mobile phone as he resumed the search in a neighbour's garden.

He said: "We got him back home by catching him by the tail, but he's got back out.

"We can't believe it. We've got this posse of people that have helped out and none of them can believe it either."

Paul said he had been flooded with calls from different Huntington addresses since Carlos first appeared in the Evening Press on Saturday.

He and his son Tom, eight, tried everything to catch him and even strung up nets between two trees where the mischievous marsupial was spotted.

But now Paul fears the ordeal of being caught could force Carlos to stray further afield.

He said: "I don't know quite what's going to happen now."
