CARLOS the Wallaby is hopping the streets of York after falling out with his playmate.
Carlos, who police describe as a "mini Skippy", went missing last Saturday, but was last spotted at 2.45am today in the River Foss area of Huntington by a couple coming home from a night out.
Owner Paul Calvert, of Vyner Cottage, Strensall Road, Huntington, only got Carlos last week.
But when he was housed with another wallaby, Max, he took an instant dislike.
Carlos, who was named after Carlos the Jackal, has been on the hop ever since. Mr Calvert said: "He will be difficult to get close to, but he won't harm anyone. I don't know how we are going to get him home" - he's probably just going to become a local celebrity."
Both wallabies were bought for about £100 from a dealer in Darlington.
If anyone spots a red-haired 2ft high wallaby please contact Mr Calvert on 01904 750871 or the Evening Press newsroom on 01904 653051.
When Carlos is found he will not be able to live with Max again, so he'll be looking for someone with a decent-sized garden.
