THE Evening Press is to hold a public meeting for aggrieved customers of holiday firm Global Vacations.
Scores of readers have contacted the paper with complaints and queries about Global, after having paid the firm between £39 and £4,995 over the past year.
We have highlighted problems experienced by a number of customers, including a woman who turned up to an apartment in France only to discover that Global had not, as promised, booked her in, and a man whose "cheap" fortnight in a villa cost him £900 after a Global cheque to the villa owners bounced.
Now the Evening Press, in conjunction with City of York Council, is giving customers a free opportunity to hear advice from both trading standards officers and a top York solicitor at the meeting next week.
People may also wish to discuss their own experiences and possibly form some kind of action group to represent their interests. Confidentiality will be guaranteed for all those requesting it.
Global Vacations has also been invited to send along a representative to answer customers' queries.
The meeting will at 7.30 pm on Wednesday at the Tempest Anderson Hall, Museum Gardens.
