THE stars will be out at Headingley tonight when Yorkshire Phoenix seek to complete a Roses double in the floodlit National League match with Lancashire Lightning.
Darren Gough, Michael Vaughan and Craig White have all been given permission to play in the game by England in what will be the trio's last county appearance before the fourth Test starts at Headingley next Thursday.
Phoenix gained a comprehensive victory over Lightning at Old Trafford in June and they will be confident of beating them again if they show the form they displayed on Sunday at Taunton in defeating title-chasing Somerset.
"A win will not only ease our relegation fears but it could put us back in with a chance of finishing as champions,"said director of coaching, Martyn Moxon.
"Leaders Worcestershire are without Glenn McGrath at the moment and have gone off the boil, and we must still have a chance if we can win our five remaining matches."
Ironically, if Yorkshire do beat Lancashire it could spell the end of competitive floodlit cricket between the Roses rivals at least for next year because Lancashire are embedded at the foot of the table and are in danger of making the drop into division two unless their fortunes change dramatically.
Skipper David Byas is recovering from Monday's operation on his right knee and he should be back in action within three weeks.

Yorkshire's general committee are today expected to ratify the terms for a new lease at Headingley, which should lead to Sport England stumping up lottery cash so that the proposed £9.2m redevelopment of the Test ground can go ahead.
It had been hoped work would begin later this month after the fourth Test between England and the West Indies.
However, on-going negotiations between Yorkshire and their landlords, Leeds Cricket, Football and Athletic Company, have meant that the starting date is now likely to be pushed back until the beginning of October.
