A deputy headteacher has narrowly avoided losing her licence after she injured a motorcyclist in a road accident.
The collision has affected Carol Wallis so badly, magistrates told her to see a doctor so she can do her job properly when school resumes.
They heard she already had three points on her licence when she was in collision with the young man on Fulford Road on 18 May.
Wallis, deputy headteacher of Dringhouses Primary School, of Vine Street, Bishopthorpe Road, York, pleaded guilty to careless driving.
Magistrates fined her £300 with £40 costs and put seven more points on her licence. They did not disqualify her.
She told them: "Every time I think about the accident, I just get terribly upset. I have hardly slept. I find it difficult to think that I hurt someone else."
Her barrister Richard Beddoe said the collision occurred in the dark.
Presiding magistrate Barbara Scott told her: "Please do see a doctor because you want to be in a fit state to do your job."
