YOU have carried two articles recently about attacks on council staff which have resulted in cases heard before York Magistrates Court.
The articles highlight the difficult job that social workers have to do including, from time to time, being confronted with anger and frustration which turns to violence.
In the highly-charged atmosphere of children being at risk, staff must always be extremely cautious and exercise professional judgement to avoid exposing any child to a potentially threatening environment.
City of York Council takes a serious view of assaults on staff and it will not hesitate to seek police help to ensure offenders are identified and prosecuted.
