DAVID Beckham is hoping the boo-boys are a thing of the past after earning the adulation of the Bootham Crescent faithful.
Saturday's friendly between York City and Manchester United was notable for the lack of abuse directed Beckham's way.
The England midfielder, who has suffered merciless chants about his family and further sick taunts during Euro 2000, believes things may have changed. He was often applauded on Saturday when he went to take corners.
Beckham said: "It was nice to get a good reception from the crowd at York.
"In the pre-season last year I was getting booed.
"I seem to get a bit of stick wherever I go but that made a nice change at York."
