POLICE today took into custody a man who fell off a garage roof in York after earlier bringing trains to a halt by walking on a nearby railway line.
The man, who spoke with a Geordie accent, did not appear to have injured himself in the fall.
The fire brigade and ambulance services had also been called to the scene in Aldborough Way, off Leeman Road.
The man, said to be in his early 40s, had earlier been seen walking around the lines near Ouse Acres in the city.Because of fears he may be hit by a high speed train, services to and from stations to the north of York were stopped between 6.30am and 7.30am.
North Yorkshire Police spokesman Tony Lidgate said the first reports they had of a man being on the line came at 6.46am.
He then left the lines and was seen walking along Kingsland Terrace, before getting on to the garage roof in Aldborough Way.
