THE carnival atmosphere generated by York City's friendly against Manchester United looks set to continue for Wayne Hall's testimonial with Middlesbrough tonight.
In echoes of Euro 2000, when the Dutch team played in front of stadia full of fans bedecked in orange, supporters will have the chance to turn Bootham Crescent into a sea of 'ginger' in honour of City's veteran defender.
Upwards of 2,000 special 'Ginner' face masks have been printed for the occasion in a bizarre tribute to the terrace hero.
The title on the back of the mask will read 'Mine's a Ginner tonic, thanks!'
The masks have been sponsored by Josh Easby, author of There's Only One Arthur Bottom, the daily electronic newsletter for City supporters worldwide which now has approaching 550 subscribers.
"I thought it would liven the place up a bit and continue what I hope will be a carnival atmosphere, generated by the Manchester United game," explained Easby.
"It should create a lasting image on the night - Wayne Hall confronted by a Longhurst Stand filled with Ginner lookalikes.
"I'm assured they'll look great and will be in a sepia tone to give them a special Ginner effect."
