YORKSHIRE has recorded many milestones in its long and proud history, and today two more can be added to the record books. Yorkshire Day is celebrating its 25th anniversary; and we launch York's first interactive soap opera.
Yorkshire Day was born out of the ill-considered carve-up of local government in 1974. Public anger over that mess has long since dissipated but Yorkshire Day is still going strong. That is because we have so much to celebrate.
The latest reason to be cheerful comes courtesy of the Evening Press. Our Internet serial YorkGate begins tonight. Who knows, it may be celebrating its silver anniversary on the 50th Yorkshire Day.
