CALRTON Towers, runaway leaders in division two of Costcutter York and District Senior League, got the better of a draw at home to second-placed Bridlington.
Carlton were in trouble at 61 for four then Jamie Pocklington (31) and Steve Townend (36) added 54 for the fifth wicket to enable Carlton to move to 166 for six.
Former Kirk Ella player Greg Hird made 27, Ian Shipley 29 and Stephen Briggs 26 not out to put Bridlington in the position of needing ten off the last two overs.
They needed seven off the final over but lost their ninth wicket to the final delivery in an attempt to hit a boundary to level the scores.
Steve Landers took three for 40 for Carlton as Bridlington finished on 162 for nine.
The division two games at Harrogate and Scarborough were victims of wet weather.
Scarborough cancelled the game after the York side had set off on the journey and they got to the ground to find it closed.
The only time home teams can call off games in advance is when they have the agreement of their opponents, who have the right to insist on travelling.
Neil Pratt had reached 30 not out and Bubwith 54 for two when play ended at Harrogate.
Clifton Alliance had the better of a draw at Woodhouse Grange, whose Ashley Quinn took three for 54 and Paul Townsley three for 46 as the Alliance made 164 thanks mainly to Steve Arundale's 32, Peter Hunter's 25 and John Gilham's 26.
Gilham then almost clinched a victory when he took five for 13, but a resolute 39 by Steve Thompson saved the day and enabled Grange to draw at 112 for eight.
Castleford and Stillington remain in close contention with Bridlington after earning advantage draws.
At Savile Park, Castleford were taken to 173 for six against Hovingham by teenager Nick Bresnan scoring 68, Steve Medley 56 and Andrew Winstanley 25.
Former Pickering junior Mark Aconley led Hovingham's response with 59, while John Mosey supported with 35 as Hovingham eased to a draw at 159 for six.
Mick Bourke took four of the six wickets to fall at a personal cost of 35 runs.
Stillington star Collis King rattled up another century, with 129 off Osbaldwick's attack.
With Shaminda Dissanayake adding an unbeaten 71 Stillington went to 244 for two.
Osbaldwick's batsmen made a fair fist of their response, Dave Heard hitting 53, Matt Dunne 48 and Steve Levison 32 out of 183 for six.
King took three for 48 to add to his century, while Aussie Dwayne Field took three for 70.
