HAS Chris Titley completely lost the plot? I usually skim Chris' column as he says he used to do with the News of the World, but I was amazed at his total dismissal of the Naming and Shaming issue in that newspaper (July 26).

Chris seems to base his argument on the idea that named paedophiles will go to ground after seeing their photographs in a Sunday paper. Let's hope if they do go underground, it will be by at least six feet.

He points out that those monitoring the whereabouts of known child sex offenders will despair if the said offenders disappear. Excuse me? Shouldn't all these repulsive child sex offenders be exactly where they can be permanently monitored - in prison - for life?

He also deplores the use of the term 'monster' for this sort of offender, reminding us that they are human beings. No Chris, they are not human beings - they are vile inhuman creatures who prey on innocent children. Should one of these 'human beings' move next door to you, I'm sure you'd want to know.

I like to think I am a civilised and compassionate person. I have thought long and hard about capital punishment, but if someone asked me today if I could pull the lever to rid the world of the piece of filth who killed little Sarah, my answer would be a resounding: "Yes I can". I also believe, Chris, that had it been one of your children, your answer would have been the same.

Spare us all from the bleeding hearts brigade and let's put these evil people away for life.

You may think I am totally wrong, Chris, but I would bet everything I own that more people agree with me on this issue.
