ANOTHER successful Driffield Show has come and gone. This year, the occasion was used to launch a farmers' market with the aim of bringing together producers and consumers.
Among the top prize winners at the show were some from the Ryedale-Scarborough areas including:
CATTLE: Supreme honours in the commercial beef judging, Miss D Whiteley, of Scawton; British Belgian Blue supreme, R H Mason, of Wold Newton.
SHEEP: Interbreed supreme, B W & A E Glaves, of Brompton-by-Sawdon; interbreed reserve, P Jewitt & Son, of Hutton Buscel; Leicester supreme, B W & A E Glaves; Jacob supreme A & S Dodsworth, of Harome; rare breeds, J & J Popham, of Allerston (Ryland); Suffolk supreme B W & A E Glaves, reserve J T & E A Midgley, of Kirby Underdale; Texel supreme P Hewitt & Son; Charollais supreme A J Coulson, of Osbodby; Llyn supreme & reserve C P Sackville Hamilton, of Acklam.
