YORK swimmer Caroline Foot's Olympic dream is over.
The 35-year-old finished fourth in the 100m butterfly final at the ASA National Championships in Sheffield last night.
With these championships doubling up as the British trials for the Sydney Games, Foot thus missed out on a third Olympic appearance, her first two coming at Seoul in 1988 and, as women's team captain, in Atlanta four years ago.
Richmond teenager Nicola Jackson also missed out, despite going into the final as the fastest from the preliminary rounds with a heats time of 61.0secs.
She finished third in 61.21, having hit the 50-metre mark in first place. Foot clocked 61.45, having been second at the turn.
Portsmouth's Margaretha Pedder won, with Birmingham's Georgina Lee second.
