DAVID NICHOLLS, whose horses are in fine form, can make his presence felt a long way from home tomorrow.
The trainer, who is based at Sessay, near Thirsk, is sending a box-load of runners to Brighton and can land the Hastings Observer Classified Stakes with Sihafi, the mount of his jockey-wife Alex Greaves.
A prolific winner two seasons ago, when he won nine races. Sihafi has found it tough going since. But the seven-year-old has been in good heart this summer as he showed at Doncaster last week when finishing a close-up fourth to Noble Patriot over five furlongs.
Tomorrow's slightly longer distance will serve him well, and the weights conditions of this non-handicap event are also in his favour. He is expected to take plenty of beating and is awarded the Nap vote.
Nicholls and Greaves can also score with Meteor Strike in the Sussex Express Selling Handicap.
Although not the easiest of horses to win with, the six-year-old ran well enough when third at Catterick last week to suggest this race is within his range.
Gary Carter is enjoying a purple patch at present and the Newmarket jockey can add to the dozen winners he has ridden in the last fortnight by clinching the T R Beckett Newspapers Handicap on Aranyi.
John Dunlop's charge has been running consistently well this summer and confirmed his well-being with a solid performance at Chepstow last time out when a close-up third to Your the Lady.
Also worth noting at Brighton are Mr Cube (4.30) and Adriana (5.00).
At Yarmouth, Aljawf makes stacks of appeal in the featured £10,000 Tote Credit Club Showcase Handicap.
The Ed Dunlop-trained sprinter scored in handsome style at Ripon two outings ago, but finished unplaced at Newmarket on his latest start when poorly drawn.
Well worth another chance tomorrow, Aljawf looks capable of defying top weight.
Ryedale jockey Robert Winston makes the long haul south and can be rewarded with a win aboard Topton in the Manny Bernstein Internet Handicap over seven furlongs.
The Paul Howling-trained six-year-old has been running respectably in defeat of late and could well return to top form here over a course and distance where he has scored in the past.
Henry Cecil, who was on the mark with Gulchie at Redcar yesterday, can land the opening race, the Manny Bernstein Credit Division Maiden Stakes with the unraced Seeker.
Farha, trained by Ben Hanbury, is another debutante well worth watching out for in the Manny Bernstein Rails Bookmaker Maiden Stakes.
