Ripon's John Inglis, 20, was making his Yorkshire debut today as the Tykes started a Vodafone Challenge three-day game against the West Indies at Headingley.
Fellow batsman, Scott Richardson, 22, from Oldham, was also expected to make his first outing in a Yorkshire first team fixture.
He was signed after a trial period, having previusly played for Leicestershire Seconds but could not break into the first team at Grace Road.
Inglis is a former England Under 19 opener who has found himself behind Vic Craven and Simon Widdup in the pecking order this season.
Yorkshire captain David Byas rests several senior players with Friday's Roses match in mind.
