YORK City depart for their week-long training camp at Keele University tomorrow - but with a number of big-name stars left at home.
Manager Terry Dolan is taking just an 18-man squad to Staffordshire, including trialists David McNiven and Phil Hadland after their showings against Marske in midweek and, as brief substitutes, at Harrogate last night.
He admitted that the 16 City players going to Keele were the likely first-team squad at present, but said that those left behind - including strikers John Williams, James Turley and Colin Alcide - remained in his plans.
"There are ten players who are disappointed they aren't coming, but you can't please everyone. They will have to wait their turn," said Dolan.
It is not known whether injured trio Chris Fairclough, Marc Thompson, who is a week behind in training, and Scott Jordan, who suffered a bang of the knee on Wednesday and is out for a week, would have made the trip had they been fit.
Lee Bullock, who was pulled out of last night's squad as a precaution due to a slight stomach strain aggravated in Thursday's game, is to make the journey.
Dolan added: "The lads who are staying back have a couple of games next week, at Harrogate Railway on Tuesday and Selby on Friday."
The City boss explained that Keele campus was a venue he had used as a pre-season camp during his days as boss at Rochdale and during his stewardship of Hull City.
"The facilities there are good, it is not too far to travel and it is a change of environment," he said.
While the trip will also include a match against non-league Newcastle Town on Wednesday, he added: "Going away together helps hone team spirit and you need a break from five straight weeks of just slogging away at the training ground.
"A lot of teams go abroad or head up to Scotland or Ireland. But my view is that there is too much travelling involved then."
City squad going to Keele: Fettis, Howarth, Edmondson, Potter, Hall, Hocking, Jones, Swan, Hobson, Fox, Hulme, Agnew, Bullock, Conlon, Sertori, Duffield, McNiven, Hadland.
