I REFER to Michael Ferrey's letter (July 11) concerning the use of extra money allocated to the health service in York. He indicates that this will mainly be concerned with refurbishing the main entrance York District Hospital.
The extra money has been welcome and is substantially being used for patient services.
The main entrance is to be refurbished using money from a private company, not from the new resources allocated to the health service.
The main entrance York District Hospital, which has been hardly touched since the hospital opened in 1976, is now used by more than one million people every year. The new facilities will benefit many of those users.
Mr Ferrey also comments on the old "wishbone-like ear radio receivers" - Mr Ferrey is right they do need attention and we are trying to find the right modern day solution.
