AS the sun keeps shining, Summer Song is an appropriate tip at Redcar tomorrow.
More importantly than the name, the Ed Dunlop-trained three-year-old is in sparkling form and has excellent prospects of completing a hat-trick by winning the Redcar Cricket Club 150th Anniversary Classified Stakes.
Having got off the mark at Windsor, Summer Song followed up in cosy style at Folkestone, where she was evens favourite.
The conditions for tomorrow's non-handicap event suit her admirably and, with Gary Carter again in the saddle, she can oblige once more.
No fewer than 30 runners line-up in the Sunday Apprentice Handicap over the straight mile and this is probably a race best left alone by punters, but Brawby trainer Alan Lockwood has good prospects of saddling the winner in the shape of Marton Mere.
Formerly trained by near neighbour Tim Easterby, Marton Mere provided Lockwood with his first winner on the Flat when coming late and fast at Beverley earlier this month.
The previously unraced Gulchie, trained by Henry Cecil, merits serious consideration in the EBF Maiden Stakes, while the featured £10,000 Pirate Ship Handicap may fall to the John Dunlop-Kevin Darley partnership, via Fantastic Fantasy, who can be forgiven her flop at Ripon last time as she pulled much too hard for her head in the early stages.
At Kempton, Midnight Escape has strong claims in the Sunday Classified Stakes.
Although he is on a long losing run Chris Wall's sprinter is still pretty capable on his day, as he showed when staying on strongly to finish sixth in a warm five furlongs handicap at Sandown on his latest start.
The step up to six furling tomorrow will suit him better and he is awarded the Nap vote.
Settrington trainer John Quinn sends Fantasy Believer south to contest the 'Elizabeth & Robin Get Married' Nursery and the hint should be taken. Fantasy Believer fulfilled previous promise when justifying favouritism at Musselburgh last time.
Warning Reef has not won for some time, but with trainer Eric Alston's string flying high opportunity could come knocking for the gelding in the Stanley Racing Handicap.
Warning Reef has finished in the frame on his last three starts, most recently at Chester last Saturday when he stayed on strongly to fill third place behind Bacchus over an inadequate mile-and-a-quarter.
Tomorrow's step back up should suit Warning Reef.
