YORK'S only brewery is hoping to celebrate the birthday of the Queen Mum in the only way it knows how - with a special beer.
The brewery, based in Toft Green, has sought permission from Buckingham Palace to brew the commemorative ale 100 Not Out as a tribute to the well-respected Royal.
"Everyone wants to celebrate this great British occasion in their own special way," said Tony Thomson, managing directory of York Brewery.
"And as a brewery based in the nation's historic second city we would like to be able to do our bit for the celebrations. She is a very special lady."
The four per cent ABV beer was originally brewed for the cricket world cup, but it is being re-issued with the pump clip altered.
Buckingham Palace has told the Evening Press that it is "considering the request from York Brewery", adding that a number of companies nationwide had sought permission to produce special products for the birthday celebrations on August 4.
