TWO golfers from Kilnwick Percy have earned a trip to Ireland and the chance to shoot for some stunning prizes in the Millennium International Pairs Golf Classic.
Les Clarkson and Mick Johnson won the club's qualifying event with a combined stableford score of 41 points and will be playing in Ireland in October in the semi-finals of the pairs competition.
However, they will not be the only local golfers in the running as a series of club qualifying rounds will decide the representatives from other clubs in the area and competition should be hot with expenses-paid trips to Ireland being up for grabs.
The semi-finals of the event will be held on eight Irish courses and the top five pairs at each semi will go forward to the final which will be played at Slieve Russell Country Club.
The eventually winners will collect the trophy, a stunning Waterford Crystal vase valued at £20,000 which they can hold in their clubhouse for a year.
Because the final stages are not held until October clubs wishing to enter may still do so and should contact the Millennium International Pairs Golf Classic hotline on 02392-827000.
