THE recent outbreaks of pig diseases, porcine dermatis nephropathy syndrome (PDNS) and post-weaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS) in the UK are raising concerns.
As yet knowledge about disease transmission is limited and the best advice for concerned pig producers is maintain high standards of cleanliness. Sorex Limited has produced a factsheet called 'Hygiene routines for all pig accommodation' which is free to farmers. The easy-to-follow sheet details a hygiene programme that can be put in place around the farm to reduce the spread of disease.
As well as the hygiene factsheet, producers can contact a Sorex team of experts and receive free advice on implementing a hygiene routine. To receive copies of the hygiene sheet or expert advice contact Sorex, tel (0151) 4207151.
