THE second half of the Tyke Petroleum Men's Tennis League season began with changes of fortune.

Riccall II relished their surprise 59-49 win over unbeaten division four leaders Wilberfoss. Riccall's Tom Bray and Noel Shouksmith top scored with 22 as part of a good team effort.

In division two, Bishopthorpe earned their first points by beating Castlegarth 72-86, Alan Yoward and Rob Moore scoring 27.

Bishopthorpe II reversed the previous result against Bishopthorpe II, their 77 games included 23, 25 and 29 from Dave Moore and John Fitch.

Riccall revelled in their first point against Bubwith whose good early form in the first division has declined. Bubwith rescued a point by winning the middle rubber 21-15. Riccall's John Tongue and Paul Elmshurst were top scorers with 22.

In a day of draws York II were gifted a point by York I, who had only four players. Mark Bland with Tony Precious and Neil Giltrap with Richard Ekers each scored 10, 9 and 8.

Copmanthorpe beat Castlegarth 68-40 to stay top in division three thanks to 29 games from Graham Butcher and Carl Addison. Knaresborough II, in division five remained unbeaten with 61 games at Sheriff Hutton with Ian Hargreaves and Keith Wigglesworth winning 10-2 in the last match to give them 24 games.

Boston Spa thrashed Appleton Roebuck II 80-28, Gordon Milne and Andrew Elliott being the week's best scorers with 30 games.

Rufforth are well clear in division six after beating Boston Spa II 68-40, Andy Ivel and David Laws notching 27. This eased the pressure on Civil Service II who beat Cawood II 57-51.

Tadcaster beat Wheldrake 69-39 with Jane Firn and Debbie Young unbeaten in winning 27 games.
