THE first Diana Memorial playground was successfully opened in London last week.
The seven-mile walkway and playground passes through Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park, Green Park and St James Park. Up to 500 children will be able to use the playground at any one time.
The £3 million project has been quoted as being a tranquil delight for visitors in London. So why don't we have one in York?
The Diana Memorial Fund apparently attracts vast sums of money. With such on-going resources, the fund could build a Diana playground in every city centre.
Leisure Services should consider such a key theme, and apply to the Fund. It should be part of the leisure plan for the city, focusing on children's and young people's activities. A Diana playground in York would be a most fitting memorial.
