CAMEROON international striker Joseph-Desire Job could make his Middlesbrough debut in Wayne Hall's Testimonial at Bootham Crescent, writes Dave Stanford.
The 22-year-old Lens front man was the new face in Bryan Robson's squad when they returned for the first day of pre-season training.
Paul Gascoigne was also back in training with his Middlesbrough team mates, increasing the chances of the midfield maverick stepping out against York City on August 1.
Job has been given ten days to win himself a £3million move which would see the African become Boro's third summer acquisition.
The African, who scored eight goals in 32 appearances for the French club last season and has appeared in the World Cup and Champions' League, arrived on Teesside as Robson continues his search for extra firepower.
City chief Terry Dolan is expected to take a watching brief tomorrow when Chesterfield - The Minstermen's opening day opponents - take on Sheffield Wednesday at Saltergate.
Former City defender Steve Tutill and striker Luke Beckett, who was a York transfer target, are expected to make their first appearances for Nicky Laws new-look side.
The Football Association today gave York a pat on the back after Bootham Crescent successfully hosted the two Nationwide international clashes between England Under-16s and Thailand on Tuesday and Brazil and Thailand last night.
A spokesman for the FA said: "York City have been tremendous hosts for the two fixtures.
"The facilities were excellent and the pitch in particular was in fantastic condition for both games.
"The England head coach, Dick Bate, was extremely impressed with the surface and at this time of year the attendance for the England match should be commended.
"The crowd got behind the team and the support was extremely vociferous."
