York Cricket Club face a hectic weekend with a double-header, tomorrow and Sunday, involving the top and bottom clubs in the league.
The Clifton Park club have the added bonus of home advantage on both days.
York take on the new league leaders, Harrogate tomorrow and lowly Barnsley in the Yorkshire League Knockout Cup on Sunday.
Harrogate's hopes of pulling off a Yorkshire League, League Cup and National Club KO treble evaporated last Sunday when they were knocked out of the League Cup by their arch rivals, Doncaster Town.
With Scarborough also out of the League's competition, York are the only North Yorkshire representative remaining in the league's own knockout.
Harrogate's strength, of course, is to be found in their batting line-up and there is no doubt that batsmen like their skipper, John Proud, John Inglis, Peter Hepworth and Vic Craven will be looking forward to having a dabble on York's wicket, which is regarded as one of the best in the Yorkshire League.
It puts more pressure on York's bowling attack and the vital need for the team to keep up the good work holding catches and fielding well.
Former Sussex Under-19 batsman, Ed Senneck, a York University student, returns to York's first team after two excellent scores in the York Senior League, taking the place of Andrew Kay.
Richard Gilbert, the former Scarborough bowler, takes the place of Ben Quick who is unavailable.
York will have to beware Barbsley's star turn from overseas in Sunday's game.
Barnsley's Australian import Rick Lucey caused a storm when he scored 137 at Scarborough at the start of the season, but he has failed to live up to that early season promise.
Former St George's Road groundsman and top order bat, David Bates is named in Harrogate's side at Ormskirk in the National Club KO on Sunday.
Little is known at St George's Road about Ormskirk apart from the fact that they play in the Liverpool League.
Opening bowler, Rob Harrison makes a welcome return to the Scarborough side who are in league action at Barnsley tomorrow.
Harrison has recovered from a shoulder injuryand takes the place of Mark Wells, who is working.
Scarborough stage their popular six-a-side competition on Sunday and the competition will start at 10am - dew permitting!
No less than six leagues are involved with clubs entered by Dacre Banks (Nidderdale League), Steeton (Aire/Wharf), Norton (NYSD), Cayton (Scarborough Becketts League), Bradford and Bingley, and Gomersal (both Bradford League) and of course the host club, Scarborough.
