A MAN who took to the roof of his parents home near Goole sparking a stand-off with police has been arrested after finally coming down.
The 41-year-old, who has not been named by police, was shivering with cold and was said to be "still agitated and tired but otherwise unhurt".
A police officer, accompanied by the man's mother and ex-girlfriend, persuaded him to end his rooftop protest at the house between Airmyn and Rawcliffe just after 9.30pm last night. He had taken to the roof early yesterday. He was immediately arrested for allegedly falsely imprisoning a woman who had earlier been freed from the house, The Tanglewoods, a detached home in its own grounds in Bridge Close.
He was taken to Beverley police station where he was due to be questioned after a night's rest.
Humberside Police spokesman Insp Steve Page said: "I am pleased that the matter has come to a peaceful and safe conclusion.
"We were always prepared to be patient and this sensible policy has paid off."
