RUSH HOUR traffic chaos gripped the A64 near York today after a crash caused huge tailbacks.
The accident happened on the Leeds-bound carriageway near the Aagrar Indian restaurant at about 7am when a car and an articulated lorry were in collision.
North Yorkshire police spokesman Tony Lidgate said one person was injured in the crash, thought to be the driver of the car, who was taken to York District Hospital with serious injuries.
The westbound carriageway was completely blocked by the crash and, by about 7.45am, traffic was queuing back as far as Askham Bryan College.
However, Mr Lidgate said that the road was completely cleared and traffic was flowing freely by 8.30am.
