YORK have reached their first Horwath Pulleyn Heselton York Vale League Cup after thrashing Fulfordgate at Clifton Park.

Their opponents will be holders Burythorpe, who made it through to their fourth consecutive final at the expense of Drax.

The final will be staged at Clifton Alliance on Sunday, August 6.

Fulfordgate were never in with much of a chance after being restricted to 98-6 in their 40 overs against an accurate York attack.

Keith Pepper top scored for Fulfordgate with 30 but Nigel Smith followed up his three wicket haul for York with a bright 30 and along with a half-century from P Taylor put on 67 for the first wicket.

Fulfordgate's bowling line-up, severely depleted by injuries to three bowlers, were unable to stem the flow of runs and York coasted to a nine wicket victory.

Burythorpe were also impressive in their semi-final against Drax.

Batting first, the knocked up 163-6 with Steve Towse's 28 and Andrew Milner's 48 giving them a good foundation to which Mark Fairweather added a quick 35 with some late big hitting.

Drax were in trouble from the start of their innings, losing both openers for four and never really recovered. Andrew Milner proved nearly unplayable as he sent down eight overs for just 10 runs.

James Brook with 28 and Scott Simm's 24 rallied Drax temporarily but Phill Hill finished with four wickets and Paul Milner three as Drax were bowled out for 100 leaving Burythorpe winners by 63 runs.
