THIS 61-year-old football medal has been found by Alan and Jeanne Robinson, of Harton, York, who are keen for Evening Press readers to help identify it.
They are wanting to pass it on to the original owner, or a member of that person's family.
Alan said: "Somebody might know something about it and by all means we are willing to pass it on rather than throw it in the bin."
The medal, with a half-football cut into the front, has the words "York City Supporters Club Interworks Winners 1939" written on the back. The name "J Brown" is also inscribed.
The case it came in has padding on which are written the words "GJ France, Watchmaker & Jeweller, 42 Bootham, York. 20 years with W Grant and Son".
The medal was among possessions owned by Mrs Marguerite Ward, Jeanne's aunt, who ran the Golden Slipper pub in Goodramgate, York, between 1955 and 1970.
Alan added: "We don't know how she got hold of it. We've no idea whose it was or where it came from but it might mean something to someone."
