A GOOSEBERRY-mad hotel in North Yorkshire has launched a campaign to highlight its culinary potential.
The Dunsley Hall Country House Hotel, in Whitby, has introduced a Gourmet Goosegogs menu featuring the fruit in starters, meat and fish main courses and desserts.
A gooseberry-flavoured alcoholic cocktail is also available.
The campaign marks the bicentennial of the nearby Egton Bridge Old Gooseberry Society.
The special menu includes gooseberry and stilton wrapped in filo pastry, for starter, panfried sole fillets accompanied by gooseberry veronique sauce for main course and baked gooseberry and almond tart served with creme Anglaise for dessert.
The hotel's gooseberry appreciation breaks are available on July 30 and 31 and August 1.
Guests will take home a jar of gooseberry chutney as a souvenir.
