BRITONS young and old love a gooseberry. We are one of the few countries that has time for the hairy little fruit, perhaps because we see something of ourselves in its individualism and hardiness.
So three cheers to Whitby hotel the Dunsley Hall for launching a celebration of the humble goosegog. Everything from chutney to cocktails will bear its flavour.
However, couples planning a romantic break may choose to steer clear of the Dunsley Hall. The last thing lovers want at their table is a gooseberry.
