BRADFORD CITY are believed to be back on the trail of Manchester United's former York City striker Jonathan Greening.
New Bradford boss Chris Hutchings has said that a deal to take Coventry City's ex-Leeds United forward Noel Whelan to Valley Parade had fallen through.
He now may switch his attention to Greening and that would spell good news for York who will receive 20 per cent of the transfer fee as part off a sell-on clause in Greening's contract when he was sold to United.
Bradford's previous boss Paul Jewell had reportedly tabled a £2m bid for Greening in May, but Jewell has since left Bradford for Sheffield Wednesday and may also revive his interest in Greening, who could find himself in a tug-of-war between the two Yorkshire clubs.
Bradford will play Dutch club RKC Waalwijk in next Sunday's third round of the Intertoto Cup after their 4-1 home win over Lithuanian side FK Atlantas comfortable 7-2 aggregate win.
Defender Wayne Jacobs was stretchered off with damaged ankle ligaments and may miss next week's match - and that could see Mark Bower, who spent the latter part of last season at Bootham Crescent - recalled to the Bradford team.
