Ground: Deva Stadium
Capacity:6,000
Last season: 14th
Manager: Kevin Ratcliffe
Ins: None.
Outs: Chris Priest midfielder to Macclesfield (Bosman); Dave Flitcroft midfielder to Rochdale (Bosman).
Chances: Keen ambition reigns at the Deva Stadium now that American millionaire Terry Smith has taken charge. The former gridiron player, who was formerly coach of the English American Football team, has launched his rule by promising a flurry of international signings with Premiership experience for manager Kevin Ratcliffe, the former Everton defensive stalwart. Smith has scrapped appearance bonuses and replaced them with an incentive scheme if the team wins and gains promotion. However, Ratcliffe is still high on the list of contenders for the vacant Wales post in succession to Bobby Gould, so he may not be the beneficiary of Smith's benevolence. As yet the only arrival at the Deva Stadium has been ex-Icelandic Under-21 midfielder Petur Jonsson, who has not yet received international clearance.
One to watch: Luke Beckett. Signed last season from Barnsley, where then manager Danny Wilson wanted to keep hold of him, Beckett marked an injury-blighted term with 13 goals.
Title odds: 50-1.
