York City Rowing Club's coach Andrew Cawood had reason to be proud of his eight's performance at the Henley Regatta.
They faced the KRC Gent team in the Thames Challenge Cup and made the early running before being defeated by the more experienced crew.
"We had a cracking start which surprised a lot of people, but KRC's experience told and they won by three lengths," said Cawood.
"But to actually compete at Henley is an achievement for for the club and I shall be cracking open a bottle to celebrate."
