Harry Kewell has been cleared to play in Leeds' qualifying rounds of the
Champions League in August.
The Australian star was sent off in Leeds' UEFA Cup semi-final against Galatasaray at Elland Road following an incident when it was alleged he stamped on Gica Popescu.
The Romanian admitted he had not been touched by Kewell and initially UEFA threw out the ban only for a more senior committee to reinstate it.
However, a meeting of the executive committee in Rotterdam yesterday once more cleared Kewell, who is now able to play when Leeds open their
Champions League campaign on August 9 and 23.
Kewell's Australian countryman Mark Viduka may not be there with him as his proposed move from Celtic to Elland Road has hit a snag. The striker may struggle to gain a work permit having not featured for the Socceroos in the past two years.
