WE are writing with reference to your article entitled 'How to avoid a nasty shock from power bills' (June 1).
Imposed above the article is a large picture of two Northern Electric bills (from 1997). The juxtaposition of the article and the pictures is misleading and reflects unfairly and negatively on Northern Electric.
Not only does the first paragraph of the article cite a case of an allegedly incorrect bill being sent by a supplier other than Northern Electric, but the picture appears to relate to the account of the writer of the article which our records indicate has never had any difficulties.
We agree with the Ofgem statements in the article that customers should carefully check their electricity and gas bills. Northern Electric designs its bills to be easy to read and understand, and works to ensure that its bills are accurate. Northern Electric is happy to address any questions individuals have regarding their bills at any time.
We also agree with the statement in the article that the opportunity to choose a gas and electricity supplier can lead to savings. In fact, we would urge your readers to consider Northern Electric as their supplier of choice for electricity and gas.
