GRANGE Williams looks much like any other man. Nothing about him immediately suggests that he is a hero. Yet that is the way with true heroes, who are transformed by the urgency of events.
This Poppleton man intervened in what proved to be a fatal knife attack, putting his own life at risk in an attempt to save that of a stranger. Now Mr Williams is to be honoured with a rare police award for bravery.
